Possibly,
the most important device on any conveyor system after the belt is
the tracking unit. And yet this is often the last piece of equipment
to attract any attention whatsoever from a maintenance standpoint.
Faulty tracking units cause hundreds of thousands of dollars worth
of damage to all kinds of conveyor systems Australia wide each year.
Operators, blame off square belts, out of line conveyors, and poor
loading of product when often the simple remedy is to replace the
tracking valve or tracking unit with one that works.
The BSF Australia Tracking Valve
is designed to control the tracking of Pressure Belts, Linear Screens,
Belt Filters, Stockdale Drum Filters and Paper Making Machines or
any other belt that wanders due to manufacturing inaccuracies or
assembly faults. The valve has a SENSOR ROD or paddle that is coated
with a 7mm thickness of durable CERAMIC. The CERAMIC coating protects
the paddle from wearing away prematurely and can be rotated to give
maximum life. Under the influence of the most powerful force in
the world "GRAVITY" the paddle is allowed to hang against
the edge of the belt at a neutral angle of 16 degrees. There is
a backlash (tolerance) built into the valve to allow for small belt
edge inaccuracies. This amounts to approximately 2.5 degrees either
side of the neutral angle. The valve is designed to correct belt
side ways drift both to the left and right of center.
The valve is activated by compressed air that operates a double
acting cylinder or pair of bellows. The standard is bellows, owing
to their simplicity, long life and zero maintenance. These Bellows
pivot the
designated tracking conveyor roller, thus guiding the belt. There
is an adjustable restrictor screw in the exhaust of the valve to
minimize the sensitivity of the system. Oiling is not necessary.
The entire valve is manufactured from 316 stainless steel
and PTFE plastic and the connection is Ø 8mm push in,
instant fittings. The total mass of the valve body is 922 grams.
The maximum operating pressure is 10 bar / 145 psi.
